Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) is a modern dance company based in New York City. Founded in 1958 by choreographer and dancer Alvin Ailey (1931-1989), a posthumous recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the company has performed in major cities in around the world and is recognized as a vital American cultural ambassador.
